Rex started training Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu in 2009 at the age of 31. At that time the closest BJJ academy was Ryan Dunstans Ignite academy in Caloundra, over 100km away from his home town of Gympie. |
Rex received his Blue Belt in 2010 from Dunstan. The distance from the academy became an issue. So Rex started his own academy in 2012 called TerraLuta BJJ, the first and only BJJ academy in his area. In 2013 Rex had the honour to receive his Purple belt from Carlos Portuguese Vieira.
